I play in a ten team H2H, yahoo league. 12 cats: runs, home runs, RBI, avg., SB, OPS... wins, strikeouts, saves, ERA, WHIP, walks.
Just wondering if any of these FA's belong on my team. If so, who should I drop?? Thanks. WHIR. James Loney, Cameron Maybin, Alex Gordon, Hideki Matsui, Kevin Gregg, Justin Duchscherer, Matt Lindstrom, Mike Pelfrey, Fausto Carmona, Jonathan Sanchez, Fernando Rodney, Chris Volstad, Joel Hanrahan
C: Chris Iannetta 1B: Albert Pujols 2nd: Chase Utley 3rd: Evan Longoria SS: Alexei Ramirez (2B, OF) OF: Matt Kemp, Jay Bruce, Nelson Cruz Utl: David Ortiz BN: Derek Jeter, Elijah Dukes, Ryan Zimmerman
SP: Jake Peavy, Francisco Liriano, Felix Hernandez, David Price, Randy Johnson, Erik Bedard, Chien-Ming Wang RP: Houston Street, Chad Qualls, Heath Bell
While there are definitely quite a few guys to keep an eye on from that list you definitely need to look at relievers - and Street doesn't have the closer job as far as I know. Hanrahan would be someone I'd look at replacing him.
Also, I have a few ideas for your offense's bench. Personally, I like Loney overall more than Dukes purely for offense. I do realize though that you probably want Dukes on your bench since you only have three OFs (plus Alexei). Might I suggest you may want to consider adding Loney over Dukes and then moving Alexei to the OF if need be (and Jeter to SS). I am not entirely sure that I would do it, but I think it is worth bringing up.
Finally, I am probably in the minority here, but I might consider Gordon over Zimmerman. While I might be inclined to take Zimmerman over Gordon if he was the primary 3B, this situation is a little different. Here, you are taking one of the two to sit on the bench, fully expecting that Longoria will be your everyday 3B and that Zimmerman/Gordon will only provide value as A)Trade Bait, B)fill in on Longo's day off, or C)either winds up outhitting your current Util.
While Zimmerman probably has a higher probability of having slightly better numbers by the end of the season, I don't see his trade value getting too substantial or Zimmy outslugging Ortiz as your Util hitter. However, I think there is a chance that Gordon could fill into some of the hyped up potential he came into the league with and add some serious trade value. Once again, he won't be taking over Longo's spot as the starting 3B but he might be able to get you an upgrade where you may need it via trade later on in the year. Since we are talking about bench players that probably won't see much playing time, I like the idea of taking the one that might have a lower probability of outhitting the other, but may have the higher chance of substantially outhitting the other.
Just some ideas to consider. Once again, I don't know if I would execute the Zimmy/Gordon swap but I think it is an idea worth mentioning
Try to do a couple of 3 for 2s or 2 for 1s so you can pick up some of these guys. Street might be a better arm than Hanny but Hanny has his closer's job locked up and Washington should see plenty of saves this year.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!

I think it's interesting that everyone likes Hanny over Gregg as a potential replacement for Street. I know that Gregg isn't guaranteed the Cubs closer spot, but if he gets it do we like him over Hanny? Thanks.
I'd definitely drop Street for Hanrahan. I don't buy that Loney is better on offense than Dukes; only one of them has 20/20 potential this year and it ain't the 1B. Gordon is about equal to Zimmerman, so which one to take is up to personal tastes. Gregg is in a better situation in Chicago but he's not very good and Marmol will be a threat, so leave him. \
Put Maybin and J. Sanchez on your watch list; if either heats up or one of your players is slumping they could be valuable assests.

Even if Gregg gets the job, Marmol is still going to be there. Hanrahan doesn't really have an competition.
