Just Drafted 12 Team Mixed... wht do you guys think???

Postby ftcitera » Mon Mar 23, 2009 1:40 pm

I am in a 12 team mixed keeper league. we kept 5 last year. I won the league last year, and this year I decided to try out a new strategy, more because of a lack of options than anything else.

It is a 6 x 6 roto league.
12 Teams
Categories are Runs, HR, RBI, TB+BB, AVG, SB and Wins, Quality Starts, K's, Saves, ERA, WHIP.

I won last year because i came in first in 5 of 6 pitching categoires, and 2nd in the other. I was middle of the pack offensively imost categories (second to last in HR and RBI though). Due to the fact that I did not have a top power hitter, and I had 3 legit SP, I decided to try to focus on a weird draft strategy this year and see how I would end up. The strategy is to basically do what I did last year, win most os the pitching categories, and concentrate on SB, Runs, and BA.

My team wound up looking like this:

C- Jeff Clement/Matt Wieters (I will replace Clement once Wieters is called up)
1B- Conor Jackson
2B- Robinson Cano
3B- Alex Gordon
SS- Jimmy Rollins
MI- Rafael Furcal
CI- Adam LaRoche
OF- Jacoby Ellsbury
OF- Shane Victorino
OF- Johnny Damon
OF- Cameron Maybin
OF- Hideki Matsui
Util- Billy Butler

SP- CC Sabathia
SP- Brandon Webb
SP- Felix Hernandez
SP- Josh Johnson
SP- Hideki Kuroda
SP- Jeremy Guthrie
RP- Papelbon
RP- BJ Ryan
RP- Francisco Cordero

Bench:
Jed Lowrie
Eric Byrnes
Ian Stewart
Kenshin Kawakami
Joe Blanton

What do you guys think? I obviously lack power, which was part of my strategy, and I know people will say I am crazy, and I kind of think I am too, but I think this could work.

i think you will win steals. no problem there.

you team looks good for your stratagy, as long as your pitching stays healthy you should do well. your offense will compete with six lead-off batters in runs, BA and steals. obviously you lack power, but that was intentional....

are three closers enough to win SVs? does any team have four closers? maybe think about adding another and dropping a low BA hitter, laroche, butler, stewart all had low BA and no steals last years
