thanks for the list. while i use a position ranking for draft day i also think overall lists are very valuable. they give you an idea of how far of a gap is between #3 2b and the #4 2b and allow you to compare players of different positions.

No problem, I found that of the auto-drafts I've done with this list, I've gotten solid infielders and outfielders, weaker catchers, strong relief pitchers, and one solid SP per team. Most people value the average starting pitchers more than I do, but I find it's easier to trade a mid-tier closer for a mid-tier starter than the other way around. I also tend to get all those middle relievers at the end of my list, since most default lists have them in the undrafted range of players.
So it looks like this could be user with some tweaking for those guys that want to do the LIMA plan with straight drafts.

LOL..We did the cafe rankings by position and everyone wanted us to put them in an overall list. Swarmee comes in here, and does an overall list and everyone complains that it isn't by position. Tough crowd.

Thanks for the work of positing your lists here Swarmee. Nothing seems too far out of wack, but I do feel confident I'll beat you in both leagues were are in together this season. ;-) j/k

Nice list. I'd agree w/ the targeting midlevel starters. Except for Prior, ALL of the top starters are either old or have had surgery too recently for my tastes.

Re drafting, I think that more than position lists, you need to be cognisant of where the dropoffs are as far as the guys AND the stats, filtered for injuries, off season weight adjustments/ drug use, team/ ballpark factors and all of that. It doesn't matter which good infielder you have but generally, it doesn't hurt to have one. Similarly, it doesn't matter which closer you have but you will need one of those too. Part of figuring that out is to look at both position lists AND overall lists. My favorite kind of list is an annotated one w/ comments re the selections but the only overall list I saw w/ a lot of that had some questionable rankings and estimates on performance. Still fun though!!!

so who did you end up with on your team? If you drafted live, how closely did you stick to drafting off the top of your sheet?

I did pick up Contreras off waivers after the draft. This was an auto-pick, where I had the 10th overall pick, and somehow got Soriano.
