Pedro, Unit, Maddux, Clemens immediately come to mind...

I don't know about no doubt but he will get in. No way he gets in on the first ballot.

Probably the same guys that didn't vote for Ricky.

That never ceases to amaze me. I just looked back, and Ripken got 98.5% of the vote. 8 people did not put him on the ballot. How are those 8 people qualified to vote?

Because this is more or less a popularity contest. There is no real method as to why some voters vote the way they do.

Agreed. There are probably enough people justifying votes based on (a) personality and (b) lack of wins to keep him out the first time around.

I've heard that there are people who refuse to vote for anyone on the ballot for the first time, because if guys like Ruth didn't get in unanimously they feel no one else should either.

I think there's a good chance he says something without thinking on his blog and alienates some of the population (and of course some writers). This could ultimately affect whether he's a first ballot guy or not. Other than this, he's still a surefire Hall of Famer.

Pedro, Unit, Maddux, Clemens immediately come to mind...

Pedro - 3.40 ERA, 6 - 2, 0 CG

Unit - 3.50ERA, 7 - 9, 3 CG

Maddux - 3.27 ERA, 11 - 14, 2CG,

Clemens - 3.75 ERA, 12 - 8, 1 CG

Schilling - 2.23 ERA, 11 - 2, 4 CG

Hmmmm you'd rather have those guys on the mound in the postseason over Schilling? Got another 4 to put forward as I believe the numbers speak for themselves.
