I took Verlander in today's auction, but I really wanted Danks. Is this a deal worth making for me? I'm concerned about Verlander's arm and Danks has been steadily improving to the point where I think he could win 15-17 games and put up fairly solid k/9 totals...

Danks is nice, but Verlander is also a sound producer. If you can do a 1 for 1 do it as your hear is with Danks; and that's half the fun of it (all things being equal of course!)
If ifs and buts were beer and nuts we'd have one heck of a party....

I also drafted Verlander and traded him shortly after reading about his decreased velocity and such.
He's definately a high risk/reward type of player but I'd go with Danks who I expect to put up even better number then last season.

If it was an even trade I would do it, especially since you wanted Danks anyways.

This is a yes for me. Danks should replicate his 2008 success, and Verlander's secondary pitches have deteriorated to the point that hitters are sitting on the fastball and pounding it. If the fastball's slower this year and it couldn't carry him in 2008, look out.

i would if the guy is willing to take it. Verlanders arm is going to fall off and is Danks can get a little more O behind him he could be a 15-17 game winner. I read a stat the other day where the sox only scored 3 runs or less in 17 of his 33 games last year.

In a one for one deal i take Danks; but if this becomes a complicated deal where your have to swap all sorts of players around, don't waste your time. Stick with Verlander if thats the case.
