I want Matt Kemp on my team...WHIR

Postby tah161 » Sun Mar 22, 2009 4:33 pm

I proposed a trade to a guy in my league offering Curtis Granderson for Matt Kemp. I thought it had a solid chance of going through until I noticed he took Kemp the pick right before I picked Granderson. (I missed the draft, auto pick)

So I offered him the trade back but this time asked what he wanted for Kemp.

He sent me 2 different offers.

The first one:

His Matt Kemp and his Adam Wainwright for my Curtis Granderson and my Yovanni Gallardo.

The second one:

His Matt Kemp for my BJ Upton.

I like Gallardo and dont like Wainwright so I dont think I want to do that trade.

I also dont want to give up Upton as I would have 2 20+ HR/30+ steal guys on my team (I think Upton will Bounce back)

I also have Carl Crawford and Jacoby Ellsbury on my team. Do you think he would give up Kemp for one of those straight steal guys?

Anyways, I will post my team and you guys can help me out:

Ryan Doumit (Pit - C)
Ryan Howard (Phi - 1B)
Chase Utley (Phi - 2B)
Chipper Jones (Atl - 3B)
Rafael Furcal (LAD - SS)
B.J. Upton (TB - OF)
Carl Crawford (TB - OF)
Curtis Granderson (Det - OF)
Jacoby Ellsbury (Bos - OF)
Álex Rodríguez (NYY - 3B)
Howie Kendrick (LAA - 2B)
Jorge Cantú (Fla - 1B,3B)

Pitching:
Francisco Liriano (Min - SP)
Félix Hernández (Sea - SP)
José Valverde (Hou - RP)
Joey Devine (Oak - RP)
Joba Chamberlain (NYY - SP,RP)
Yovani Gallardo (Mil - SP)
Chris Young (SD - SP)
David Price (TB - SP)
Scott Baker (Min - SP)
Jair Jurrjens (Atl - SP)
Frank Francisco (Tex - RP)

Cats are:
W SV HR K ERA WHIP
R HR RBI SB AVG OBP

I'm in the minority but I say Kemp > Upton.

Just me though.

I strongly agree with you, but I would like to try and keep both on my team if possible.

Maybe try packaging Ellsbury with Granderson but I also agree with the other two that Kemp > Upton.

Try offering him Upton for Kemp but also try to upgrade at another position-Upton is the higher ranked player (supposedly).

But, with Upton missing the first two weeks or so, they become very close.

I would also do the first one, but I like Wainright.

Please help with mine:

Thanks for the reply.

I'd do the first deal (Kemp/Wainwright for Granderson/Gallardo). If you want to have both Kemp & Upton, that's the way to get it.

I personally would do that Kemp/Wainwright for Granderson/Gallardo deal in a heartbeat.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I wouldn't do the Granderson/Gallardo deal because I'm pretty high on Gallardo this year.

I'd offer him Crawford straight up, since you seem fairly willing to let go of Crawford.
