Pitching Free Agent Help!

Postby melloyello » Sun Mar 22, 2009 1:42 pm

Good pitching got drafted early in my league, which left me with great offense and pretty bad pitching. I'm thinking of dropping (at least) Phil Hughes because I heard he's not in the starting rotation. Who should I grab?

Here are the cats: IP, W, L, CG, SHO, SV, K, HLD, ERA

My team:

SP - John Lackey
SP - Josh Johnson
SP - Kevin Slowey
SP/RP - Max Scherzer
SP - Manny Parra
SP - Paul Maholm
SP - Phil Hughes
SP - Chris Volstad
RP - Jonathan Broxton
RP - Troy Percival
RP - Chris Pérez
RP - Mike Pelfrey

FA's:

Motte
Wagner
Corpoas
Chris Ray
Arroyo
Franklin
Zimmermann
Edwin Jackson
Masterson
Hanson
Sonnanstine
Soriano
Rauch
Heiman
Zito
Carlson
Mike Adams
Darren Oliver
Joe Nelson

Unless you want to wait out the situation and hope for an injury to the Yanks staff, Ray as a potential closer would be a better short term bet than Hughes, though that is not saying much. Same for Gregg if he is available in your league. Otherwise, I would not make a move as most of those guys are scrubs.
