I'm getting one of these as a throwin in a trade.
Who's the better guy for my CI spot?
Thanks.

I like Stewart's upside, but he's not even guaranteed a spot in the line-up. Zimmerman you at least know has a permanent spot in the line-up, batting between Milledge and Dunn. So at this point I'd go with Zimmerman, as he seems to be the safer option. I also think he should rebound after his injury last year. People forget he was a mid-round selection for a lot of people last year, he's still just 24.

That is really a tough call.
My advice is if you need help at second, then Stewart since he has 2b eligibility in most leagues. Obvisouly check first in your league.
Then take a look at 3b. If you have a stud already at 3b, I again would choose Stewart for the upside.
IF your weak at 3b, then Zimmerman as the safer choice.
Please help with mine.

I am pretty weak at 3B and CI
C Mauer
1B Votto
2B Alexei
3B Beltre
SS Peralta
CI Ian Stewart/Lowell
MI K.Greene
OF Braun
OF Manny
OF Holliday
OF Rios
UT Ethier
BN Crisp/Stewart
I guess I could always drop Lowell for Zimmerman and keep Stewart (to back up my MI)
Drop Stewart or Lowell -for- Zimmerman?

Beltre is underrated, not that bad.
I have a feeling Lowell is not going to be that productive. I would drop him and keep Zimmerman on the chance he improves.
I would clearly keep Stewart. He's been compared to Chase Utley in waiting.

I guess my point is that he can't be Chase Utley from the bench...
I know he'll be pretty solid in the future, so I guess it depends are you looking for short-term or long-term needs. I bet Zimmerman outproduces Stewart in '09.
Stewart's hit .231 and .242 vs. right-handers the last two years, and he hit .234 on the road last year, so he's got some adjustments to make. However, he's got some power, I'll give him that. The average projections have him around .265 BA and Zim's around .280.
