Had the last pick in a 14 teamer, and I honestly feel like I did a poor job and don't care much for team but we'll see what we can do.
Friggin Yahoo crashed twice, causing me to take Johan Santana and Hunter Pence when I wasn't SUPER keen on either.

So, I really have a weakness at HR, SV and SB. My strengths are going to ERA, W, WHIP, K, OPS and probably holds. I feel like I didn't really have any sleepers I was targeting that weren't getting gobbled up. My CF has potential but is also very risky. SS is pretty meh unless Lou magically realizes that Theriot is better at lead off than Soriano. My pitching seems pretty solid though.
Not much for closers, but pretty solid all round. For a 14 team league you arent looking too bad. Trades can improve your team, if you arent big on Johan trade for some MI help or a big bat since The Puma wont carry you in power numbers.
I dont think your as bad as you think you are.... your 2 SPs are very solid for a 14 teamer. As long as you can hawk the WW I think yuo will be in alright shape. Its always tough having to wait so long after that first wheel.
Yeah, the closers aren't much. I got caught on the bad ends of runs on that, as you usually do when you pick 14th =\ However, you are kind of limited on your bench spots in this league, so you usually can't pursue winning both saves and holds consistently. I may just end up punting saves and going in on holds, LIMA style.
I do really want another big hitter, but I think Johan Santana is the only one I could flip for one. But on the 1:1 side it seems like that's going to get me an Utley/Kinsler/Holliday. I took Johan and Berkman over Holliday because I'm just worried about Holliday's numbers dipping away from Colorado.
Also if I trade Santana my pitching gets far weaker.
hunter pence...he's not really over or underated in my book. could go either way i think you'll see from him what you did in years past. wouldn't worry tooooo much over him. santana, personaly, i would trade in a package deal...maybe get an elite baseman and a budding pitcher.
There's a guy whose starting pitchers are Peavy and Cueto (that is it) and he can't stream pitchers because its a max 50 moves. I'm thinking I could move Santana to him straight up for Ryan Braun. Not that I don't like Santana, but that just smells like an upgrade to me. Then I could move one of the extra OF (probably Pence or Burrell) for another pitcher, preferably a high K guy like Billingsley or the like. My MI is still weak but I'd at least have some more power. Another guy is rolling Chris Young, Ben Sheets, Verlander, Denks, and Maine as his staff and he has Josh Hamilton, who appeals to me because of his CF eligibility (less of a logjam for me than if I get Braun).
I would agree with some people here that you aren't as bad off as you think you are. You've already listed your offensive weaknesses, and unless you can get somebody like Ryan Braun who's going to contribute in at least 4 (but has a strong change to be a 5-cat stud) I would not let go of Santana at all. The only other way is package Santana or Hamels along with Pence and see if you can't get like a Bedard/Dunn in return, or another above average pitcher that some owner isn't too high on along with a power bat.
I think getting rid of one of your studs actually dips your starters to below average though...I like the overall peripherals of your pitchers, and closer situations generally don't tend to be a problem early on in the season, but dealing one of your stud pitchers + Pence/Bradley for a below tier pitcher and a power bat is really the only move i'd be looking to make in a package, or one for one in separate deals just like you stated. Otherwise, just stick it out for a bit and see what happens.
Thanks for your input with mine.
