My advice is to not fall in love with one guy so much in a scratch draft that you feel the need to reach for him. It is fine to target him, but make an objective decision on where you SHOULD draft him, and do not go more than 1 round earlier than that.

Davis worries me a little in the long-term (2-3 years from now). Justin Smoak is the first baseman of the future there.

if you cant get davis in the 6th pick up Votto, I dont think its a big reach on Votto in a keeper and personally I would prefer him in the long run over Davis, but Davis has been going 1-2 rounds earlier.

I'd just wait to see if he's their at 6-7th round. I honestly think votto will produce 4th round numbers though as i see people are talking about him. but one of them should be their in round 6

I agree with you your draft position does put you in good position to draft Davis.

You'll need to look at who is available at pick 48-49. In the drafts I have participated in , there have been some very good OFs available at that pick Rios, Guerrero, Ellsbury, perhaps even Markakis, Kemp or Holiday drop to that pick. I would certainly pick any of those players over Davis. They all have solid track records, whereas Davis has only a half season under his belt.

Also, some really nice SP would slip to that pick as well. (Webb, Hamels, Peavy, Holliday).

I do like Davis, I picked in the sixth round of both of my drafts, but I would not have reached for him late 4 early 5 with so many other proven talents available.

If he lasts to the sixth, I would take him obviously, but I agree with the other posts that Joey Votto would be a nice pick end of the sixth / early seventh who will give you Davis like production. I also like Jay Bruce rigth about that spot in the draft as well. A second SS right about there , I like Stephen Drew, would give you a trading chip in the league as well.

Please help with mine.

Problem is, this fantasy season is the only one he'll be at 3B. You won't be able to play him there next year.

The first year in a keeper league is always tough. What are the rules of keeping someone? Keep as long as you want, do you have to give up a draft pick, do you have to give him a contract at the end of the year? That would effect everything! Weiters is another example. If you can keep as long as you want, he'll likely go somewhere much closer to Martin and McCann.
Good luck, feel free to PM me
