Help with the next picks?

Postby rails80 » Fri Mar 20, 2009 9:43 pm

Sorry in advance for the real long post, but anyone who reads it through, leave a link and I'll help you out in return.

VERY slow 20 team dynasty draft in progress. Some league members are Cafe members but I'm posting anyway (hopefully they do the right thing and don't steal my picks). I drafted for this year and figured I could build throughout the minor draft and season for the future. So I've got some injury risks and questionable SP's. I'm wondering who to grab with my next 2 picks (end of RD22, start of RD23). Here's my roster and some available "talent":

20 teams, 6x6 H2H (OPS and HLD)
25 round MLB draft in progress (only players with 1 AB or 1 IP are eligible)
12-15 round MiLB draft to follow

C - Jesus Flores, C-WAS (15:281)
1B - Derek Lee, 1B - CHI (7:121)
2B - Brian Roberts, 2B-BAL (3:41)
3B - Chipper Jones, 3B - ATL (4:80)
SS - Hanley Ramirez, SS-FLA (1:1)
LF - Jason Bay, LF-BOS (2:40)
CF - Coco Crisp, CF-KC (12:240)
RF - Brady Hawpe, RF-COL (6:120)
Util - Jose Guillen, LF/RF-KC (10:200)
Util - Josh Fields, 3B-CHI (14:280)
BN - John Baker, C-FLA (18:360)

SP - James Shields, SP-TB (5:81)
SP - Scott Baker, SP-MIN (8:160)
RP - Mariano Rivera, RP-NYY (9:161)
RP - Joel Hanrahan, RP-WAS (13:241)
P - Gil Meche, SP-KC (11:201)
P - J.J. Putz, RP-NYM (16:320)
P - Jason Motte, RP-StL (17:321)
BN - Rich Hill, SP-BAL (19:361) Took a shot, doesn't look like it's going to work out
BN - Kelvim Escobar, SP-LAA (20:400)
BN - Brian Bruney, RP-NYY (21:401)

Would gamble with Sheffield in there..sure you arent going to hold him but he could have one decent year left in him and could start for you if he does well.

Purcey would be my other target

Good luck with Cafe members not stealing lol :-B

I'd go after these guys in the following order:

Gets (should be a nice little player)
Rowand (Nice upside, thought I don't think he'll realize it)
Giles (I like the idea of getting some certainty, and it's easy to expect his usual mediocrity)
