#2 overall Pujols or Wright? WHIR

Postby shoelessjoetara » Fri Mar 20, 2009 9:30 pm

I know this is a no contest to some of you but I am looking at position scarcity and I am thinking of taking Wright instead of Pujols if Ramirez is taken at #1. Wright gives SB and helps in all categories. If I passed on Pujols, I would target Adrian Gonzalez in the 3rd round or I could take Pujols and match him up with Aramis Ramirez. Who would be the better duo, Pujols and Aramis or Wright and Gonzalez?

dead on, WRIGHT all day long, pujols is great, but wright gives you those SB's and 3B eligibility.... with arod out he's the clear cut #1 3B.... i vote wright and i wouldn't even hesitate....

I disagree... Pujols, to me, is the best player in baseball, fantasy and real life, so long as you aren't considering SS scarcity... I'd take him every day, and I LOVE Wright (Mets fan), and agree that, with A-Rod out, he is BY far the best 3B. Pujols is just something special... No slumps, a horse when it comes to playing dinged up, and ridiculous numbers...

But that's just me.

I took Pujols #2 overall and had the decision between A Ramirez and Longoria in the 2nd round. Unforunately, I took Longoria even though i love A Ramirez. Pujols and Ramirez is a great combo...Gonzalez will put up good numbers, but no pujols numbers.

How many teams in your league? I am in a 14 team league so I doubt that Longoria would be there for my 2nd roud pick. I know that Gonzalez won't put up Pujols numbers but his numbers would be respectable. Do you think Aramis Ramirez could put up numbers close to Wright besides the SB?

Pujols was the right pick in my opinion.

I told all my friends the same thing. You take Wright and get a quality 1B in the 3rd I think you could get Morneau. I would even give Reyes a thought do to position scarcity, The top tier SS compared to the middle of the pack is a huge difference. But go with Wright

Any concern with Pujols' elbow or Wrights complete lack of power so far?

I think M Cabrera comes with very minimal risk, may not match Pujols or Wright's production, but his ceiling is the same and in Yahoo you can take the best available 1B or 3B later as he is eligible at both. Am I crazy???

Also, if Hanley falls to #2 is an automatic in that spot (even with the shoulder tendinitis?)
