Ya never know with Harang. I think he wont be the SO monster he has been in the past and after last year, phew I cant believe I drafted him. I would say go with Parra. As for the closer, Baltimore is supposed to have a horrible starting rotation so most games may not require a closer, well most likely for the other team. Good luck
Yeah, Maholm could have a nice year, but that hardly ever happens with the Pirates because their coaching staff is consistently horrible. Remember Tom Gorzelanny and Ian Snell?
Zimmerman has more upside, with Parra you know what you're getting; he's an Oliver Perez type with good Ks and bad ratios. When you dig that deep, I'd just go with the upside in Zimmerman. If you want to play safer, go Parra.
I'd rather see you keep Litsch and add Zimmermann some other way. You don't seem to have many starters; do you have a lot of bench hitting?
I want no part of Motte for now: he's a one-pitch pony who's not for sure the closer. A lot of the reason why Perez isn't closing for the Cards from the start of the year was/is LaRussa's disdain for giving closing jobs to rookies, and that predated Perez's shoulder concerns. I don't know why we turn around and assume that Motte's getting the shot with less experience than Perez. Motte may have a lot of career saves, but in 2009, he might not get his shot.
Ray is another person, like Zimmermann and Litsch, whom I want on your team. I don't drop Lindstrom for him yet; one is closing, one isn't, but watch closely. Lindstrom might have a DL trip to start his year.
Parra has some potential, but he has too many walks right now. his WHIP is a killer. in back to back seasons with Milwaukee he has had 4.1 BB/9. there could be hope because his career minor league number is 2.5 Bb/9. his career minor league WHIP is 1.26. Jesse Litsch really isnt anything special. he doesnt get many K. last season in 176 IP he only had 99 K.
Ray has potential to be the closer in Baltimore. if Sherrill pitches anything like he did in the 2nd half of last season he wont be closing for long. im not sure id drop Lindstrom for Ray just yet though.
i think it could be safe risky move to drop Litsch and pick up Parra. maybe just keep him on your bench early into the season to see if hes keeping the walks down.

to answer your question about my bench, we really don't have a lot of bench spots. Currently i have: Napoli - he's my starting C, but I have Sandoval in thew C slot until he gets back Tejada - picked him up LATE b/c of all the hoopla surrounding him Coco Crisp - the only guy i "might" be able to drop, but i really think he's gonna have a nice year in KC
So, my only thought now would be to drop Litsch & pick up Zimmerman...
I'd drop Litch for Zim. I have a bad feeling again this year about Verlander as well, but we'll see. Also, Motte is looking like a stud, but I'm not sure who you'd drop for him.
