Background: This manager and I have talked about Markakis and Rios on and off for awhile, more so for one or the other. So, the other day he shoots me this offer:
I Give: Lance Berkman/Alexei Ramirez I Get: Nick Markakis/Alex Rios
Now, there's no way I do this with the way my team is, right? I can use Berkman's power and the like, though this could mean I can turn around and deal Beltran away for a power CI bat, maybe Morneau or Fielder?
Here's my team: 10 Team H2H 6x6 (5x5 with OBP and HLD)
C Victor Martinez (Cle - C,1B) 1B Lance Berkman (Hou - 1B) 2B Alexei Ramirez (CWS - 2B,SS,OF) 3B Aramis Ramirez (CHC - 3B) SS Stephen Drew (Ari - SS) OF Carlos Beltran (NYM - OF) OF Adam Dunn (Was - 1B,OF) OF Jermaine Dye (CWS - OF) Util David Ortiz (Bos - Util) Util Andre Ethier (LAD - OF) Bench Howie Kendrick (LAA - 2B) Bench Adam Jones (Bal - OF) Bench Carlos Gomez (Min - OF)
SP Roy Halladay (Tor - SP) SP Chad Billingsley (LAD - SP) SP Josh Johnson (Fla - SP) RP Trevor Hoffman (Mil - RP) RP Frank Francisco (Tex - RP) P Troy Percival (TB - RP) P George Sherrill (Bal - RP) P Dan Wheeler (TB - RP) Bench Grant Balfour (TB - RP) Bench Brett Myers (Phi - SP) Bench Zack Greinke (KC - SP) Bench Jair Jurrjens (Atl - SP)
So, do I accept this deal and work it out from there and whatnot, or reject it and fire back another deal. If I did this deal, I'd probably be dropping Jones and Gomez, since I wouldn't need the OF surplus....
i like your outfield as is.. and i like it much more than i would with kendrick at second than alexei.. if you really wanted to do this you'd have to get the deal with beltran set up before you accepted this.. you are just upgrading in positions that you dont need and opening holes in other areas that are pretty set..

You don't need this deal at all. You'd effectively be losing Berkman/Ramirez/A.Jones/Gomez since the addition of 2 more OFers would render Jones/Gomez useless other than trade bait. And when the other owners see that you have 7 OFers they're going to low-ball you in trade discussions. This deal would just create problems for you. Don't do it.
I like the new deal for you - Markakis > Alexei IMO...
I wouldn't give Ortiz for Cano - you already have the poor mans Cano in Kendrick... If he's willing to give Cano for any of your bench OF or for Kendrick I'd say get him to add him.
The deals I've thrown out are Alexei Ramirez for Nick Markakis straight up, as well as Ramirez/one of Jones/Gomez for Markakis/Cano
However, I'm thinking of scrapping the 2 for 2, since I am looking to acquire Brandon Phillips to fill in at 2B.
I was offered Phillips/Doumit/Hardy/Furcal in exchange for Martinez/Beltran/Ramirez
Obviously I can't in any sane mind accept that deal, so I'm looking for a counter. Should I bother countering for anything more than Phillips? Here is his team:
C Ryan Doumit, Dioner Navarro 1B Justin Morneau, Conor Jackson 2B Brandon Phillips, Chase Utley 3B Ryan Zimmerman SS Rafael Furcal, J.J. Hardy, Miguel Tejada OF Vladimir Guerrero, Magglio Ordonez, Jayson Werth, Vernon Wells, Nate McLouth, Util Mark DeRosa SP Roy Oswalt, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Aaron Harang, Josh Beckett, Javier Vazquez, Kenshin Kawakami RP Brandon Morrow, Joel Hanrahan DL Brandon Backe
Outside of Phillips, I have interest in Morneau, Zimmerman, McLouth, Harang, Beckett...
So what's a good deal? I was originally just thinking of sending on player for Phillips, but knowing/seeing his interest in Martinez, maybe I'll send more?
