Whatever happened to this guy? He seemed like perennial 30 home run hitter, at a shallow position, with a good line up behind him, before he was sidelined for most of last year. Now no one mentions him. What do you guys think?

He seems to have won the starting job already this spring.
As a Sox fan, I'm not real optimistic about the guy. He's certainly been below average defensively in the past and I don't expect him to hit for average. He might put up decent HR numbers playing in the cell.

he might lead off! he has a pinch of speed so might get some nice numbers across the board minus AVG. i just hope he keeps it above .260.

Adam Dunn lite
If he gets 500 PA: .240/33/80

My only fear is that Ozzie will platoon him too much with Betemit.

i think he's a good guy to take wth a real late pick- maybe the last round in a mixed league- he's pretty much forgotten, and he can give you good power from the 3B/CI position if he puts it all together.

since Fields has no plate discipline, he will probably be platooned with Betemit and Ozzie Guillen like Dayan Viciedo alot and he could be up by end of season.

I would doubt this. Barring injury, Fields has the job full time.

Negative... they are talking of a platoon situation with Fields and Betemit... First off because of Betemit's exp and has showed flashes this spring, but MORE so because of Fields awful glove at 3B... hell was watchin the Cubbies/Sox game couple days back now and he had 2 errors in 2 innings... if he was better in the field he would be everyday, but his huge woes out in the field hold him out of that spot light... and he hasn't been exactly a lock at the plate kid swings at anything coming his way (granted Marshall, cubs SP, has one hell of a nasty curveball) he was made funny by Marshall... i wouldn't put any money on Fields being #1 fulltime this season to start the off at least...
