Blockbuster Trade...should I pull the Trigger?

Postby aravtrain21 » Thu Mar 19, 2009 9:39 pm

Ok, so I have been going back and forth for 2 days with this guy. The offer is...I give up Carlos Lee, Roy Oswalt, Rich Harden, & Pablo Sandoval and I get Matt Kemp, Tim Lincecum, Joakim Soria, and Xavier Nady. I'm hesitant on Nady because my OF woud be too crowded...I think I would rather another pitcher instead. He's got Greinke, Haren, Kershaw, Bedard and Hamels. Which one do you think I should target? Here's what my roster looks like. 14 Team H2H league. *Sandoval is not eligible at C.

Active Batters
Posada, Jorge C NYY
Votto, Joey 1B CIN
Cano, Robinson 2B NYY
Wright, David 3B NYM
Hardy, J.J. SS MIL

Quentin, Carlos LF CHW
Pence, Hunter RF HOU (U)
Active Pitchers
Billingsley, Chad SP LA
Harden, Rich SP CHC
Oswalt, Roy SP HOU
Slowey, Kevin SP MIN
Vazquez, Javier SP
Jenks, Bobby RP CHW
Gregg, Kevin RP CHC
Reserve Batters

Hudson, Orlando 2B LA

I would more then likely do it.

I think Matt Kemp could end up being better then Carlos Lee.
Tim Lincecum is much better then Rich Harden.(Because of health issues with Harden.)
Roy Oswalt is a huge loss but the upgrade of Lincecum should help.
Joakim Soria is one of the best closers in the game to me and should make the loss of Sandoval not much of an issue.
I also think you could trade Nady for someone to improve another position.

I'd def try and upgrade Nady but take your pick of those pitchers he has. Any of them would be better than having "Hurt all the time" Harden...

But Nady will have a pretty nice year so he wouldn't be a bad acquisition but if you can get someone better than go for it...

I hate this deal for you, he is making out like a bandit. Take Hamels instead of Soria and I like the deal MUCh better.

Sandoval is touted as the biggest prospect in SF's organization since Matt Williams...not easy to get rid of Harden because of a potential great healthy season, Oswalt will be consistent, and Lee is a perennial .300-30-100-100 guy. I don't think this is the year that he declines. Hamels instead of Soria would help but I don't know if he would do that. What about Greinke?

Pretty even, actually, but I'd pull the trigger. Soria and Lincecum make the deal for me, and I'm a guy who loves El Caballo.

If your going to do this deal and keep Soria in the deal you should at least get a better OF'er than Nady. I still think your giving up too much

I'd do that deal. All the better if you can get greinke instead of nady. I'd even take a shot on bedard
