I'm wondering why Paul Maholm doesn't seem to be on many peoples radar. He had an excellent season with a terrible team last year and by the looks of his spring so far he should have an even better season this year. I have him on my roster but am not sure whether to start him or Mike Pelfrey as my fifth starter.
I would go Maholm for sure, he gets negitive press because he plays with a $hitty team...I like him since he ballances out my team ERA and WHIP, doesnt embarrass with K's either
I like Maholm, and think he is worthy of at least a bench position on most fantasy teams or even as a 4th/5th starter.
As mentioned before me, the fact he is a Pirate is an insta-turnoff for most, but he had some very solid numbers last season and should be able to follow that up this year.
He is a good guy to spot start if you want good ERA, WHIP and he even gets some strikeouts sometimes, just dont expect too many wins, becuase even sometimes when he pitches great the pirates still lose
The weather in Stl today is nasty, so it is hard to think either pitcher will last in the game too long. I think both will be pulled before the 5th or in the 5th.
