Which Outfileder to draft

Postby perlick29 » Thu Mar 19, 2009 3:32 pm

I'm in a Slow post draft right now, and could use some advice:

I'm thinking about taking an OF with my next pick and I anticipate having 6 guys available.

Here they are:

1)Hunter Pence
2)Nelson Cruz
3)Chris Young
4)Johnny Damon
5)Vernon Wells
6)Justin Upton

So if it were up to you guys, who would you take? Using your touch tone keypads please vote now. And perhaps a backup plan pick? Oh and I WHIR.

Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

Hunter pence,

I think hes going to hit above or around .280, in the 80s in R and RBI and put up some decent power numbers. He had a good second half of the season and i think it shows that he is improving as a young player.

What does the rest of your team look like and is it a keeper league? Pence is probably the best choice. I might be interested in taking a bit of a gamble on Chris Young and hope he fills into some of his projected potential this year. Or, if you are definitely in need of steals, Damon is a good choice since he will probably have close to .300 BA and plenty of stolen bases.

I like Nelson Cruz a lot for his upside, but I couldn't rely on him. He I would only select as Util or to take up space on my bench until I see what kind of numbers he will be putting up this year.

It is a keeper league and I have Reyes, Dunn, MCAB, Greinke, Billingsley, Fuentes

Thanks for the extra info. Since you have Jose, steals isn't issue #1, so I think I would go with Pence, but it is a tough choice. It is extremely tempting to go after Nelson Cruz (I think I just overvalue prospects. haha). Also, Chris Young isn't a terrible choice but I feel like he would put up extremely similar numbers to Pence, but chances are just a little worse.

Good luck!

I take Chris Young hands down.....I still think he is a better hitter than he has shown....30/30 upside is hard to pass up..
