what pitcher should I ask for Adrian Gonzalez

Postby Padres Fan » Thu Mar 19, 2009 1:00 pm

Yahoo 12 team H2H 5x5

C=Chris Ianetta
1B=Albert Pujols
2B=Brandon Phillips
3B=Alex Gordon
SS=Jhonny Peralta
OF=Carlos Quentin
OF=Jacoby Ellsbury
OF=Lastings Milledge
UTIL=Adrian Gonzalez

BN=Pablo Sandoval (C,1B,3B)
BN=Mike Aviles (2B,SS)
BN=Adam Jones (OF)
BN=Adam Lind (OF)

SP=Chad Billingsley
SP=Jamie Shields
RP=Joe Nathan
RP=Joakim Soria
P=Joey Devine
P=Brad Ziegler
P=Oliver Perez
BN=John Smoltz

I am looking for another good Pitcher, figure Adrian Gonzalez is expendable he ranks at 50 and these 5 pitchers rank about the same

Peavy or Webb his 1b/Util are Huff, Burrell, LaPorta

Halladay his 1b/util D Lee, Nady

Haren his 1b/util Pena, Guerrero

Liriano his 1b/util Loney, Konerko, Mauer (his other C is Russ Martin)

I like Peavy and Webb the best
which one would likely bite?

leave a link and I will comment back.

I'd keep Gonzalez if I were you. It is a big dropoff from him to one of your bench guys.

But I could use another good SP, since Perez and Smoltz are waiver wire scrubs, and with Pujols and Quentin I should still be good with hrs

While I agree that there is some dropoff from AGoz to one of your bench guys, I don't think it is as detrimental to your team as not getting another SP. I think if you can land an ace for A Goz it would absolutely be a wise choice considering your team makeup. Especially having Sandoval and Aviles on the bench, neither of whom I would be against starting in a 12 team league.

I think you should go with your first choice here, Try to get either Peavy or Webb. Since that manager has both, he is most likely going to consider a staff ace expendable. I think if that doesn't work out I would move to the person with Halladay. D Lee is a great 1B, but that manager might be interested in the upgrade and perhaps moving D Lee into his Util spot.

I would not trade AGoz for Liriano personally, just too much uncertainty for my taste.

Good luck!

Look for Becket, Oswalt, Lackey and Haren.... These pitchers may require you give something else up additionally but it shouldn't be too much. Maybe straight up for Kazimer but I really don't like him.... I would try and get Lackey or Haren.

I absolutely love Pablo Sandoval and if I was you I would slide that guy right into the UT spot.... I live in the bay area this guy is an absolute hitting maching.... Look at his stats at end of last year and this spring!

I agree with trading GonZo

Honestly, I'd take any of those SPs over Gonzalez if you can land them. I think they are all more valuable than he is.
If I were on the other end, I wouldn't trade any of them straight up.
Good luck.

I swear I responded to this a few minutes ago but I don't see my post. I must have not hit "Submit". %-6

Anyway, I think Webb is the one guy on the list for whom I'd trade Gonzalez straight up. If this doesn't go through and you end up pursuing someone like Liriano then it should go without saying that you should receive an additional player in the deal.

Good luck.

I also offered O Perez fpr Mahol sine my waiver llok like this Volstad, Guthrie, Kuroda, Gregg, this is a H2H league, and Maholms has a better ERA and WHIP, (Perez ranked 227 Maholm 263)

I'd settle for Beckett as well as any of the guys mentioned. I wouldn't trade Gonz for Liriano or Lackey, though.
