Wasn't it Tom Hanks who told Madonna that there was "no crying in baseball?" Perhaps Tom should give Alex a call and tell him that there is no crying in baseball and that overt homosexuality is also frowned upon in baseball.

I actually think the pictures are pretty cool, in an artistic sense. Or very different than anything we've seen or expected a world famous pro athlete to do. I also believe that ARod must be a very brave and self-confident person to do this sort of photo cover, especially in the midst of all that is going on with his lying about steriods. Anyone read the article to go along with it? I haven't, but perhaps the racy pics are intended to show his arrogance/individuality/whatever and the Madonna-esque poses are obviously influenced by his relationship with her.

It's very strange of a professional baseball player to do these sort of poses behind a camera, but how is this "overt homosexuality"? It looks more like masturbation and self-obsession to me. That said, in the world of professional sports where exhibiting anything apart from the normal display of machismo is mostly ignored or maybe met with ridicule, he's likely to make more than a few (more) enemies along the way. Hey, maybe ARod figured, "they all hate me now anyways, might as well do whatever the hell I wanna do."

Or he's is gay, and he's coming out. Either way, I applaude him for doing this, if this is what he wanted to do.

this is embarrassing that I know this... actually it was Bitty Schram (whom plays Evelyn Gardner) that Tom Hanks yells at tells "there's no crying in baseball!". But you're right that Madonna is in the movie.
