How comparable is Bay to Lee? I know Bay has a history of being injured but it is a contract year for him which is a big incentive for some players. Can he put up comparable stats to Lee?
He might "lose HRs" in Fenway, but when he left Pitt, he was on pace for 33. In his short time in Boston, the pace was 29. So let's say he hits 27-30 this year.
Other #'s to consider (projected over full year with both clubs): PGH - 97 RBI / 110 R / 35 2B / 10 SB BOS - 122 RBI / 129 R / 40 2B / 10 SB
So you're giving up a few HRs to add 25+ RBIs and Rs...
Lee is 3 years older...the career difference between them is 7 RBI per year, .08 AVG (towards Lee) and 4 Rs (towards Bay). Bay's SLG% and OBP is higher. And this is while Lee averages 30 more ABs per year.
ADP - Lee = 26, Bay = 33. I'll wait on Bay and take those #'s out of him. In my 20 team dynasty, Lee went #30, I took Bay at #40 (end of the 2nd)
I agree with the previous poster...it's all about value. Yeah, Lee has been more consistent lately (and he was mashing last year until he got hit on the pinkie)...but I can see Bay and Lee producing very similar numbers but you can get Bay a round later.
