Outfielders - Breakout Players

Postby Moss84 » Wed Mar 18, 2009 11:12 pm

Outfield is not as deep as I expected -- most of the studs will go for a ton in my auction draft -- not sure any will be worth it. I'm looking for some budget players that are capable of a breakout season (30 HRs , 100 RBIs) or players that are undervalued.

I'm in a 12 team mixed keeper league with 5x5 scoring.

Justin Upton
Jay Bruce
Delmon Young - crowded outfield
Coco Crisp - Royals leadoff

I'd say only Bruce can approach 30 HRs.. And not a given.

Helping hand for me?

Lastings Milledge (think N Mlcouth 2008)
Andre Either- he was a stud hitting ahead of Manny
Adam Jones
CoCo Crips
Jayson Werth
Dukes- risky but a lot of upside

If Bruce hits for about the same HR rate as last year, he should easily hit 30. Ethier is a pretty safe bet to break out whereas Milledge, Dukes, Cruz, Choo, Carlos Gomez, Maybin, and Adam Jones are players that should be on your radar. For late round sleepers, look into Travis Snider, Jeremy Hermida, and if he gets PT with Skip Schumaker moving to second, Colby Rasmus is worth a mention.

Some of these guys are rooks and some you might not get HR benefits for a few months: Lind, Snyder, Reynolds, Morales, Schafer, Wieter.
