Does this trade work

Postby Padres Fan » Wed Mar 18, 2009 9:51 pm

I am in a 10 team Roto 5x5 CBS Sports league, another team owner keeps trying to aquire Matt Capps from me, latest trade was Capps for Adam LaRoche, which I declined sine I have 5 eligible 1st basemen. I counter offered Matt Capps and Manny Parra for John Lackey and Brad Ziegler. Will you think he will bite.

His other pitchers of note are James Shields, Dan Haren, and Adam Wainwright.

leave a link and I will comment on yours.

Thanks for the help on mine. PS. I'm from SD go padres! Anyway. I don't think he would go for that..what does your team look like? Are you looking to get back a closer in the package for capps? Are you targeting SP?

I think your first offer is a sincere offer. It is not way off. I think it is a good measuring stick. I wouldn't even care if Zeigler came off the books. I am unsure if he sticks it out as closer.

If you can get Lackey or Wainwright, I would think you are closing in where you like to be. I think you can come across another closer in a ten team league rather quickly if you watch the wire.

Thanks for helping with me.

I think you need Capps. I don't know how secure I am with Lyon. Unless he ups the quality of those offers i would stand pat .

I'm doubting that he'll go for this trade. I'm in a 12-team league and Parra is still on the WW. Lackey is just below an elite pitcher. If you're looking for a nice SP in return, you're gonna have to give up more than Capps & Parra IMO.

Like I said the other onwer has been on me about Capps almost everyday, so i thought I would see how bad he wanted Capps, I gave him a list of players from his team I would take for Capps...Haren, Lackey, Wainwright, or Shields

If you can get Lackey for Capps without giving up much more (i.e. including Parra would be ok), then go for it. If it's going to cost you much more don't bother. Capps is pretty valuable to you and you don't really need to upgrade at SP imminently.
