#1 Pick for Keeper League Supplemental Draft

Postby BigDunn » Thu Mar 19, 2009 12:54 am

5x5 Roto league, Keeper League, Keep 10 players, Start 2 utility spots, No max games played/innings/roster moves/etc.

Here are the players I have the rights to going into the draft:
3B Longoria
SS Drew
OF Kemp
OF Bruce
OF A.Jones
OF Milledge
SP Liriano
SP Shields
SP Scherzer
SP Morrow
SP Kershaw (last year's amateur)
SP Cueto (last year's amateur)
(amateurs: SP S.Strasburg and OF M.Stanton)

My team is still in rebuilding mode so I'm looking heavily for players that can give me a long term benefit and have the potential to be a top 10 keeper next year. Here are the best of the draft pool:

C - Iannetta
1B - Pena, Jackson, Loney, Butler
2B - Kendrick, Cano, Johnson, Lopez, Weeks
3B - Encarnacion, Beltre, Gordon
SS - Hardy, Jeter
OF - Pence, Magglio, Hunter, C.Young, Cruz
SP - Gallardo, Vazquez, Verlander, Wainwright, Nolasco, C.Young, Garza, Bedard
RP - Valverde, Ryan, Wood, Cordero, Fuentes

Let me know who you would take with the #1 pick, thanks!

Gallardo...but thats more or less a shot in the dark....Alot of the players available are fairly close on my board, and I happen to think gallardo will be good for years to come.....If healthy of course

i think gallardo's potential upside could be the highest... but like he said, it's a crapshoot.

based upon your team needs... you already have bunch of good pitchers, but your infield is suspect. Cano is a huge bounce-back candidate this season.

Here's to you, Mr. Robinson. Jesus loves you more than you Cano.

Quite a dilemma you have there, the best available players are currently your teams strengths, OF & SP. Pence is easily the player with the most potential on the board.
My recommendation would be to draft Hardy with that first pick. I would also look to grab Conor Jackson and Kelly Johnson a little later, I believe they provide the best value for their ADP of those available.
