First round Utley. Dumb?

Utley with the number 8 pick? I'm trying to convinve myself out of it, but no way he snakes back to me in round 2. Mancrush? Yes. But worth it, or should I move on down the road?

Not dumb...in that slot, i like Utley, Hamilton, J-Rol, Sizemore.

If you pass on Utley, u know he will be gone by your next pick. Take him, and root for your man crush all year.

Excellent pick. For me, the top 5 goes like Hanley, Wright, Pujols, Reyes, Utley. 2B is much more scarce than OF.

Uhh...well he is supposedly healthy, but there should be better than him out there.

MCab, Seizmore, Braun, Hamilton, Longoria, Kinsler are just a few options who will probably still be out there. If you want SB, better off going with Kinsler in my opinion.

Arod maybe? He will be out the first couple of months but maybe you could steal him in the second round.


Anyways, I would go with MCab then Kinsler if either are out there at 8.

no way Braun or Sizemore or M-Cab fall to #8.... if they do that is your pick and I want in your league

if not Utley, Rollins, or Tex are nice options.... I am not sold on Hamilton or Kinsler as reliable first round options just yet

I am in the same situation and I am leaning toward Utley or Rollins, but am a little worried about utely due to his injury and Rollins had a down season last year

these should be the first 7 off the board... in no particular order: pujols, hanley, reyes, wright, m-cab, braun, sizemore. I would have no problem taking utley b/c you can be pretty confident that in a 12 team league, he wont be there when you pick again. So, go for it. Of course and argument could be made to grab arod, rollins, tex, hamilton, kinsler (utley > kinsler, imo), or an elite pitcher (santana/lincecum - i wouldn't, but that's me), but if you're comfortable taking utley... then go for it. You could do a lot worse.

Now, if someone ahead of you throws a monkey wrench into the equation and lets one of those top 7 slip out... then I don't think you could let any of them get past you.
