Pick ARod?(WHIR)

Postby kidsilk » Tue Mar 17, 2009 6:23 pm

AL only league, 10 teams, 23 man rosters, 7 keepers with 3 year contracts, 5x5 roto style

My Draft is coming up and I have 3rd overall pick. I have heard that Sabathia and Kinsler are going first and second leaving ARod as a possible pick for me. Do I pick ARod and just hold out for two months while he heals knowing that I will have him for the next 3 years? Or do I go with one of the following players instead like Crawford or Granderson?

Keepers:

MCab
Thome
Wells
Konerko
J. Lopez
Morrow
Shields

Best available players:

CC-going number one
Kinsler-going second
ARod
Crawford
Ortiz
Abreu
Granderson
Bay
Dye
Magglio
Hunter
Burnett
Papelbon
Burrell

Comparing him to the other potential picks, and factoring in the fact that you would keep him for the next 3 years, I think you have to pick Arod. It will probably hurt your teams chances this year, at least in the first half, but long term its definitely a better option than Crawford, Ortiz, Abreu, etc

would you be able to keep A-Rod for three years?

If so, I would do it b/c you can get 25-30 HR this year plus reap the benefits next year when he is healthy.

If you can't, I would find it hard to take a guy who is going to miss 2 months plus possibly more at the end of the season if the Yanks shut him down early (if they are out of play-off contention). Its a tough call - if there was one more stud out there to justify not taking him it would make your decision a lot easier. The next guy on your list to take IMO would be Bay.

Good Luck

Yes, I can keep ARod for the next 3 years if I draft him this year.

If you get to keep ARod for 3 years, then I say Yes pick him 3rd. None of the other players jump out at me except Crawford.

Please give me some help

The verdict...roll with A-Rod and be patient.
