Protect CC Sabathia in the first round?

Postby On Parole » Tue Mar 17, 2009 5:19 pm

I'm in a 14 team combo H2H - Roto league where we can choose to pay and keep only one player from last years roster. I have a tendancy to wind up with the latter picks of the snake draft. I have Sabathia and Braun who seem to be going in the 1st 14 picks. Would you protect either one or scrap them and take the best player available, mabe at a thin position.
I'm thinking about waiting until round 5 or six for starting pitching, hoping for say Billingsly or Liriano then concentrating on K's.... The H2H winner gets all the drop add money, which is the biggest prize of our league. Any thoughts?

I would keep Braun, he would likely go higher than CC and like you said you can still go after pitching later and be OK...plus keeping Braun allows you to have the slight chance at redrafting CC if he falls, or at worst like you said you can pick up somebody at a scarce position

Definitely keep Braun, he is the consensus #6 or 7 player overall, whereas CC can go anywhere from rnd 2-4.
