utley for AROD? WHIR

Postby padrino990_200 » Tue Mar 17, 2009 10:34 am

ok first off let me say this is my first year playing fantasy baseball. have always played ff but i inherited a team in baseball this year

here are my 8 keepers going into the draft.

Justin Morneau
Hanley Ramirez
Johan Santana
Roy Oswalt
Chace Utley
Matt Holiday
Manny Ramirez
Nick Markakis

So i think i can say i have a pretty solid team entering the draft.

a guy in the league offered me AROD for Utley straight up. his team is also stacked (we are the two strongest teams by far).
He has:
Arod
Beckett
Haren
Webb
Youk
Sizemore
Sabbathia
i forget the last guy

so knowing AROD wont be ready for 2 months or so would you do this deal. Utley is coming off surgery but all indications is that he will be fine for opening day. I know it hurts me early in the year but i think my lineup would be unstoppable come august/september.

would you take the deal, or would you try something else, or would you stay put?

Thanks

I wouldn't do the deal. ARod will be a question mark all season and Utley is the best at a scarce position. I'd sit right where I am.

Keep Utley, your team looks great going into the draft.

It looks like someone put a tray of studmuffins in the oven and let them bake for about 30 minutes at 375 degrees and out came your team. Thats how good your team looks going into the draft.

Which is why I would not make this move at all. You will have Utley for the whole year and A-Rod is still a question mark. Is there a chance that A-Rod comes back in the minimum amount of time and beasts it all year? I guess so, but when your team is already good you don't have to take gambles like that. Just focus on your draft right now and don't worry about trades unless they are clearly favoring you.

I wouldn't do this trade either. You team is stacked and their is no need for you to take on that risk. You already have a great OF and most of your infield. I would look to draft a strong 3rd basemen with your first pick..depending on which 3b's are being kept.

RUN AWAY FROM THIS TRADE!!! your team is full of monsters, you dont need arod or his aroid taslk or his injury and utley appears healthy and at 2nd base that would be harder to replace then a corner. ask urself this...why would he want to do this trade?? cuz he doesnt want teh headache and wants to sure up a tough position. stay put and watch as the league rookie wins the prize...good job

No, because Utley is the class of a thin position, and it seems like A-Rod's injury could be a lingering issue the whole season.

agree with the previous posters, Utley is the top 2B option and there is no guarantee Arods hip is 100% even after rehab, after all theyve already said he still needs another surgery after the season. your team is good enough that you dont need Arod
