I have the next pick (WHIR, as always)

The league: 18 team 5x5 roto. The draft is done in four sections. We submit draft lists to the commissioner for each section and he does the draft. I won the league last season, so I picked last in round one of the snake draft. When the draft resumes with round 18, I will have the first pick. I only have 3 slots to fill in the final 6 rounds because keepers filled the other slots. I will have picks 1, 24, and 42.

Here is what my roster looks like thus far:

C V Martinez
C Shoppach
1B Fielder
2B Utley
3B Gordon
SS Greene
MI
CI A Gonzalez
OF Abreu
OF Bourne
OF N Cruz
OF C Gomez
OF Matsui

DH/P

P Bush
P Greinke
P Reyes
P Ryan
P Jonathan O Sanchez
P Verlander
P B Wilson
P Wolf
P

We have the flexibility to carry a DH or an extra pitcher. I prefer to have the DH. Matsui is DH eligible, so I can switch him and draft another OF. There isn't much left in the way of DH's, so drafting another OF is probably what I will do.

Here are some of the names that are available:

MI
Y Betancourt
Renteria
F Lopez
C Izturis
Lowrie
Andrus

OF/DH
HInske
Baldelli
Cuddyer
Joyce
Gutierrez
Francisco
Griffey
Gerut
Freel
Sweeney
C Gonzalez
Juan Rivera
K Morales

I'm not going to even list the pitchers because I've already decided that I will arrange my list so that my pitcher will be my last pick, number 42 in this section of the draft.

At this point in the draft, I like to get guys with a lot of upside, and that will probably be great keepers for next year. Having said that, I am inclined to put Jed Lowrie as the top name on my list, and then hope that I can get Kendry Morales with my pick at the 24 slot.

If anybody sees better options for me, I am open to suggestions.

WHIR, please leave a link.

I like Lowrie too. I think he will put up nice numbers this year especially since the job is securely his now. Then, I do like your idea of going for Morales later in the draft. I don't see anyone else on the lists that stand out to me at this point.

please help

as a red sox fan i like lowrie or baldelli. supposedly they have baldellis illness all figured out. and with JD's/Ortiz/Lowells injury history and Ellsbury not exactly impressing last year he could see alot of at bats this year.

if you can wait until tomorrow to see how Lugo's surgery goes. they werent gonna know what was totally wrong with him until they got in there. if its not that bad i can see him at least starting the year ahead of lowrie just because of his contract and the fact that he was playing pretty well in spring training. the red sox also have a prospect nick green that has been hitting the crap out of the ball this spring, he could cut into lowries time if he keeps it up while lugo is out.

Thanks for that. I don't have to submit my list until the morning of March 30, so I'll keep an eye on Lugo. I've actually been watching that situation most of the spring.
