Keeper Question

Postby targasf » Tue Mar 17, 2009 5:21 am

I am in a 10 Team NL only ROTO league with three keepers that can be drafted one round before you got them the year before.

I have 5 that I am looking at and need a little help. Here are my options. Which three would you take?

Furcal 11th
Hamels 5th
Doumit 10th
McClouth 11th
Sherzer 12th
Conor Jackson 8th

Any help would be appreciated.

Furcal, Doumit, McLouth ... only possible switch is Hamels instead of McLouth but with only 3, I'd rather take all hitters and draft pitching.

Furcal is a no-brainer in the 11th.

Hamels is good value there.

and McLouth is great value that late. Doumit is a nice player at a shallow position but not so great to pass up any of those 3 guys.

I like Jackson and Scherzer alot but your other options are far better.

In an NL only league, C becomes even more shallow, no? Figure Martin, Soto & McCann are kept. You have the 4th best-hitting NL catcher on your roster already. I expect a regression in average, but even if he drops 40 pts, he's still hitting .280. If you keep Doumit, you still have picks in the first 8 rounds. If you keep Hamels, you're losing your 4th rounder and need to draft a Catcher. I'd rather keep those 8 picks and draft pitching...

But, I guess you could keep Hamels and draft a guy like Jesus Flores or John Baker...
