Kevin Gregg Questions. WHIR

Postby afern401 » Mon Mar 16, 2009 8:06 pm

I am wondering what everyone is thinking about Kevin Gregg's chances of becoming Chicago's closer. Right now I think the race is about even between Gregg and Marmol. Because my closers are shaky, I'm willing to gamble and say Gregg wins the spot. If I decide to pick him up as a FA, who do you think I should drop? My initial feeling is Jair Jurrjens or Wieters (but i hope to hold on to him and try and trade him if he gets off to a hot start after he gets called up) THANKS

C: Pablo Sandoval
1B: Carlos Pena
2B: Brian Roberts
SS: Rafael Furcal
3B: Aramis Ramirez
OF: Ryan Braun, Josh Hamilton, Jermaine Dye
Util: Nelson Cruz

SP: Jake Peavy, Chad Billingsley, Zack Greinke, Matt Cain, Gil Meche
RP: Matt Capps, Manny Corpas

Bench: Mike Aviles 2B/SS, Jason Giambi 1B, Matt Wieters C, Jair Jurrjens SP and Chris Perez RP

I'd gamble and drop Perez, who looks like he will lose the role to Motte.

Agreed. I would drop Perez too. That said, I think Marmol is just too nasty not to close and Gregg ends up being a set up man.
