MY KEEPERS! Thanks!

Postby justinA » Mon Mar 16, 2009 7:54 pm

Hey guys.

Auction on Saturday so I am pretty pumped. 14 team, AL/NL, $300 salary, 25 active (15/10). C,C,1,2,3,SS,MI,CI,OFx5,U,U Px10

I had a rough year last year so my keepers aren't very impressive, but I'd like to know what you guys think and what I should focus on in the auction.

Jose Lopez $6
Alex Gordon $15
Chase Utley $26
Alex Rios $25
Elijah Dukes $6
Ervin Santana $12
Francisco Liriano $11
Yovani Gallardo $11

Tot: $112

I am obviously expecting Gordon to breakout and I probably paid too much for him. My pitching looked really strong until Santana's arm issues, but hopefully they aren't a big deal.

I am in the middle of my league in how much money I have to spend, so I don't have a huge advantage there. Also, there is a atleast one top 5 player at each position available right now, so my options are open. Closers usually go way overpriced as well.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

paying the same amount for Alex Rios as Chase Utley? Overpaid for one underpaid for the other. I'm also hoping for a Gordon breakout but there are too many safe 3rd base options to pay that.

I don't know what to think of Liriano but that seems like a good price. Lopez is cheap enough to roll the dice.

The latest on Santana is not good but Gallardo should be a stud.

I forgot to add in my keeper we add $5 every year you keep someone. I've had Utley since he was $1 and this is probably the last year I keep him.

I traded for Rios in the off season and my projection had him at $23 - $27 so I figured better off securing him now than risking overpaying in the auction.

I love Lopez. I know he lacks speed, but he is going to hit 20 HR this season and .285 minimum. I'll take that at MI.
