It was an interesting debate with A-Ram versus Youkilis, but what are everyone's thoughts on Chris Davis...I actually like Davis more then Youk because he has more raw power (I would take A-Ram over Davis because I feel A-Ram is more established), but Youk should have the higher BA. They both are 1B/3B eligible, so why is Youk on average going about 30 picks before Davis? It's not like Youk has been a proven masher before (mid teens was his highest HR total before last year)...thoughts?

I wouldn't draft Davis over Youk for the same reason I wouldn't draft Longoria before Aramis.

I personally don't care how high one's "projected ceiling" might be, until they show that they can reach or exceed that ceiling I'll take the guy who has already done it and has a reasonable probability of doing it again.

It's also why I wouldn't draft Alex Gordon before Cantu or Beltre.

Youk slugged about 100 points over his career average last year... Davis is just coming into his own. I will take the upside no doubt about it.

It's a tough one. For me, if I didn't have Davis as a lottery pick, then I probably wouldn't end up with him as the risk is way too high for an early round pick. I do think that you can build your team around Davis though since the payoff could be significant. Especially in shallow leagues. He qualifies at two positions so as long as you have good back ups and don't draft too many risky picks then he alone can't hurt you.

is there any reason you cant have both? Youk and Davis both have 1B and 3B elegibility, and with Util spots there should be enough room for both of them...Davis should be going a few rounds after Youk, although i think the hype may be inflating his ADP some, so maybe not

...but if i had to choose, i'll take my chances with Youk. HR may drop, but still good for .300 with 100 Runs and RBI's

He'll start 6-8, but I'm willing to bet he's 4 or 5 by mid-season.

30-100 K's from 3B - if you're in a league that doesn't count SO (roto) then believe the hype and hitting in TEX - a .280 avg with positional flexibility ain't too shabby
