In my competitive league I took him mid third. I think late 3rd or 4th is the consensus though. Likely someone (like me) will be willing to take the risk in the 3rd though.

NEVER!!!!!

oops that is teh sox fan in me. usually mid second rd to mid third. and i agree with that. 2nd round a bit of a stretch but if he is still there by mid third he is great value and so far it looks as if he is already recoverinng well..i just read that he is already starting he rehab workouts. :-°

In Yahoo! leagues, usually someone who forgot to prerank their players gets stuck with him in the last part of the first round.

I personally would avoid him like the plague--someone else is bound to overpay for him. His maximum value is mid-4th, early 5th round.

The earliest he'll be back is mid-May, and then he'll be cold, not having seen live pitching for months. Not to mention that he will be conscious of the injury and will probably not steal many bases.

Essentially you'll get at best four productive months from him. Probably 25-30 HR max.

Where is he going or where would you take him in a keeper league?

Not much higher. Next year he'll turn 36 having had significant injury issues the prior two years, with his last great season being three years prior.

3rd rd at the earliest. I would take him in the 4th, if not later. I see him missing more time because he wasn't able to play and will need to see some minor league action to get in shape.

"These go to 11".

The earliest he is back is late April actually. The timeline was 6-9 weeks from the day of the surgery (last Monday). That puts him at April 20th at the earliest which means best case starts playing a week or 2 later. Don't cloud the facts with your opinions.
