2nd and 9th picks overall in 1st Year H2H Keeper League WHIR

Postby tvaldivi » Sun Mar 15, 2009 1:42 pm

I made some trades to land me the 2nd and 9th overall picks. I also have my 2nd and 3rd rounders as well (23rd) and 26th overall. What should my strategy be. Leaning toward taking Pujols at 2, since Han Ram will be gone. Then what??

I think I would take Pujols at 2 and then I'd really focus on youth from that point. In keeper leagues, it's important to get young guys that can produce now and help you in the future. In all honesty, I'd have a hard time passing up Longoria with your 2nd pick if he were there. He's super young and should only get better with age. He's still learning to hit.

I'm not a huge Longoria fan, so I think the 2nd pick is a bit of a reach for me. I was kind of thinking between Braun (don't know if he'll be there), Lincecum, and Rollins. Then with my 3rd pick hoping Kinsler falls! What do you think of Lincecum with my 2nd pick and then taking hitters with my next 3 picks, is Lincy a reach there?

Lincecum is an absolute stud. You can't go wrong taking a young stud like him in that spot.

In a keeper, you could certainly consider Wright at 2. If it was a Roto league, that's probaby the way I would go since it's H2H Pujols is probably still the play there. I would look to land Braun or MCab with your second pick. Too early to take Lincecum personally in a H2H league as good as he is.

How many teams are in the league? I'm assuming 12.

My initial thoughts are with the #2 pick, either taking Pujols or Wright. I personally would lean towards PUjols. With your #9 pick, I would be hoping that Miggy or Braun fell to me, but I doubt it. If not I would be looking at probably one of Philly's big 3 (Utley, Rollins, Howard).

You may have to adjust your strategy based on how the draft is going, but I would probably look to draft the ace of my pitching staff with one of your next 2 picks.

For your first pick, I would definetly grab Wright since its a keeper league. For your 2nd, you could target Braun, Cabrera, and Howard (since its H2H).

Definitely take Pujols at #2--he is the man.

For #9, Howard, Cabrera, or Lincecum may be there. Obviously if Ryan Braun or Sizemore are there, you jump on them.

Please help with mine:
