What I love:

1st round pick in 2003.
6 minor league seasons: .285/.354/.539
Last year in 395 ABs for the SL Bees (AAA): .296/.375/.595 (31 HR/6 SB)
This spring in 30 ABs: .400/.438/.767 (2 HR/2 SB)

What I hate:

183 MLB ABs: .191/.212/.317
He's behind Figgins, Aybar and Izturis on the depth chart.

I'm drafting him late. Talk amongst yourselves.

No, McPherson has suffered from injury while Wood hasn't had much of a opportunity.

How are they even comparable? McPherson blew out his back. Wood is healthy as far as I know.

I meant in terms of being AAAA players...heh... :*)

There's also the matter of his 26.8% MiLB K rate with not nearly enough BB to compensate. He's destined to be a lesser Reynolds at his peak unless he changes something, and fast. It's really tough to get away with that hitting mindset in the majors.

I remember reading a blurb on rotoworld recently that suggested he would be platooning around 3B/1B/DH to get him ABs if he kept up his impressive spring...I don't know how much of that is just conjecture or actual inside info.

It is way too early to call him a AAAA player.

I just don't think he has a skill set that translates well to the majors. You're right actually, it is too early (it was just a poorly thought out offhand remark), but I don't have much faith in him myself.

I can agree with that. I don't think he'll reach the high ceiling everyone talked about a few years ago but he's been pretty good in ST. Definitely someone to keep an eye on.
