11 team auction - keep 6 - $260 cap for 19 players (C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, 4OF, 2UT, 5SP, 3RP) - 6x6 (OBP and BAA added)
Here is what I am thinking
Keep 3B - Wright - $39 OF - Markakis - $13 1B - Davis - $1 SP - Peavy - $29 SP - Liriano - $10 SP - Price - $1 Total - $93 ($167 to spend in draft)
Notable releases from my team RP - Broxton - $3 SP - Oswalt - $19 2B - Roberts - $23
Peavy is the only non-bargain at $29. I have his worth at $26 based on our league settings. The others are value picks - even Wright, who I have valued at $51 based on our league settings.
These are some of the guys I know will be available in the auction (one team dropped out, leaving some studs) - Hamels - Howard - Rollins - McCann - Russel Martin - Victor Martinez - Joba - Bay - Vlad - Alphonso Soriano
Does my keeper list look OK and who would you target out of the available guys in the auction?
I like the looks of your keeper list but I may think about keeping Oswalt instead of Peavy to save 10 more bucks. Other than that I like it. And you will be going into the draft with strong pitching and offense so I would target Rollins and Howard one and two.
Soriano and Rollins may be going a bit low this year, so they may be players to watch. If not, then Howard could be an asset if other bidders are turned off by the average. I also like Oswalt at 19 instead of Peavy at 29.
I agree with the others that you should keeps Oswalt and not Peavy as he is $10 cheaper. If I were you, I would target Soriano as he seems to be undervalued this year.
The only thing is that I THINK I could get Oswalt for less than $19 in the auction... whereas I think Peavy would go for around what I have him at or more. Just a gut feeling based on comments that I've heard from other owners in the league (trade talks and such - no one wants Oswalt).
Also from banter I've heard that Hamels is going to be the biggest target and I wouldn't be surprised that he goes for $35 or more... which is ludicrous. Everyone is talking up Howard and Rollins too. I think those guys are going to go at premium prices (as they were the three guys dumped from the abandoned team). We've just moved to auction format this year after 15 years of drafts. Should be very interesting to see how it goes. Soriano could very well be over looked and be had at cheaper prices... but I hate his OBP and that is one of our cats. WIll have to think about that. I could go after Howard big time and offset that with a high average guy later (like Ichiro, who should be available).
I think you have enough money for the auction, but I'd be inclined to keep Broxton over Peavy. Oswalt is a better bargain for the price than Peavy is IMO. This way, you can make a run at Rollins, Howard, Hamels, Bay, and Soriano.
