It seems crazy to me how early these guys are going. One of my leagues had them both taken in the 7th round . I'll pass and take Rasmus or Maybin at the end of the draft.
I'm trying to get at least one of them but I'm sure as hell not planning to reach for them. And rest assured, at least 1 of the other 11 people is probably willing to reach at least a round or two to get them so I'm probably bum out of luck on this front. Oh well, more Garza/Iannetta for me!
Rocinante2: you know Rocinante2: its easy to dismiss the orioles as a bad team ofanrex: go on Rocinante2: i'm done Rocinante2: lmao
over at espn, wieters is about the last catcher taken due to his very low ESPN pre-ranking. just goes to show you how much affect the service providers' default ranking has.

I find that very interesting. You would think that at least some of the people using ESPN would be checking other sites for rankings. I use Yahoo , but I check out a bunch of different sites for ranks and possible sleeper articles. But mostly I use the Cafe. And I'm also not chasing Wieters and Price.

Most of those ESPN, CBS, and other big name sites with 1000s of free drafts a day have 100000s of people who haven't an idea what is going on. They go off the rankings they see, and yell in the chat area when someone they know gets drafted. Throw in the one or two homers (YANKS SUCK! SOX RULE characters), and sprinkle in one or two actual fantasy players, and you have your public draft.

Exactly. And don't forget the two d-bags who didn't bother to turn up and got auto-drafted.

In a redraft I'm not really interested in Price. The IP will be limited even if he is in the majors. I like Wieters but he will likely go sooner than I am comfortable taking him.
the thing is all three sites have casual fantasy players, and yeah even yahoo drafters pay heavy attention to the rankings they are provided.
imo, wieters is getting over-valued in yahoo leagues. even if you pre-rank, you can't ignore the influence yahoo has by placing him in the 109th o-rank. sure you can move him down a bit, but would someone move him down as much to be more in line with cbs and espn? probably not.
In a redraft I probably wouldn't target Price, because he'd go earlier than I would be comfortable with. But Wieters, he's a catcher. There's not a lot expected of a catcher. So I could grab him (though not the 7th round) and settle for someone with guaranteed PAs later on. Then, when Wieters gets called up everyone else will wish they'd done the same.
