Postby kidsilk » Sat Mar 14, 2009 5:44 pm

I need to pick a starter with my next pick since I am in the 7th round. Please rank the following available pitchers:

Beckett
Lackey
Lee
Volquez
E. Santana
Harden
Burnett
Shields
Dice K
Lester
Felix
Joba
Gallardo
Cain
Wainwright

At least rank the top 5. Thanks and leave your links.

Thanks for the help on mine...

1 - Gallardo - I love him this year... although you probably won't get 200 IP out of him. Nice lineup backing him up but iffy defense, especially up the middle. In a keeper league he would be my first choice on this list.
2 - Beckett - Many of the other guys are high risk/high reward as is Beckett.
3. Wainright

Lee - A lot has to go right for him to repeat what he did last year. Not overpowering stuff. Too soon to draft him IMO. (and I'm a Clevelander!)
Volquez - I don't know. I expect a let down here - big hitters ballpark.
E. Santana - Isn't he hurt already?
Harden - Too early for Harden IMO. Huge injury risk.
Burnett - Might be 4th on my list above
Shields - Solid pick, but a few rounds later maybe
Dice K - Solid pick I suppose - maybe #5 on my list above
Lester - I know least about this guy.
Felix - Still young. I like how the Mariners have brought him along. He might ramp it up real soon.
Joba - Limited innings... but could be a monster.
Cain - Bad team, plus he seems to implode every now and then. Good perifs though.

Generally, I take NL pitchers in mixed leagues whenever I can.

If Billingsley slipped for whatever reason I would put him at #1 also.

You know what, ignore Santana because of the arm.
