ESPN keepers/draft question

Postby Bloody Sox » Sat Mar 14, 2009 9:51 am

This is the first year we are trying ESPN in my main league - our league is allowed to keep three players, but you have to forfeit draft picks to keep them (e.g. 9th round pick last year can be kept with 5th round pick this year). It appears that with ESPN, the only option available to me for setting keepers is to have them count as the first X number of picks in the draft. Two questions:

1. Is there any way to "slot" keepers into draft spots in ESPN that I am not seeing?

2. Are there any websites out there that will host an online draft where I can slot in the keepers? I looked at Mock Draft Central, and couldn't tell if this was an option.

Thanks for any help...

Unfortunately, there's no way to do it on ESPN. Trust me, I've tried. The keepers can only be taken in the first X number of rounds like you said. Mock Draft Central isn't an option. I'm sure there's a site out there that could do it, but not that I'm aware of... The only thing you could do on ESPN is pause the draft as LM and manually pick the player to the team. But that's a logistical nightmare for a lot of reasons. So yeah, basically, ESPN does not support advanced keeper settings, hopefully they'll change that in the future... Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks for the reply - yeah, I've pretty much decided we'll have to have people just track their own keepers and make sure they draft them when they should, with me over-seeing things. Oh well.

That could get really messy if one or more managers miss the draft and start auto-drafting people's keepers... Good luck.

IMO: Hold your draft on IM or Go to Meeting or the like and give everyone a spreadhseet of the draft board and the kept players in their slot

if someone misses a pick on ESPN live draft and the system gives them a kept Pujols or whatever you not only have to correct that but everyone else would have to remember that their "real pick" was Corey Hart or whatever and now no one can take him either

FYI... I think I just found my solution. Mock Draft Central DOES allow you to host your league's draft for $25.

That should do me just fine.
