would you take Nick Markakis over Jason Bay?

Postby Newkie » Sat Mar 14, 2009 9:23 am

I am in a H2H 10 player keeper league with standard 5x5 scoring, and I need some advice. Would you trade Bay for Markakis straight up? A manager has offered the trade to me.

Here are my keepers as of today:
Mauer
A.Gonzalez
Uggla
Aramis Ramirez
Sizemore
Bay
Beltran
Cliff Lee
Kazmir
J.Shields

I'll take Markakis. He has been very queitly reliable the past 2 seasons. I believe this is the year he turns more of those doubles into HR's.

I'd probably stick with Bay. He's in a good situation now and still has several good years of productivity ahead of him.

There's an entire thread about it.

I think Bay is a bit better than Markakis thanks to the increased power and run production in a much better lineup. Markakis is obviously better in AVG and steals - so it kind of depends on which categories you need help.

That said, if this is a keeper league, I'd rather have Markakis. The margin is small enough that the keeper aspect makes me go for Markakis.

Bay in a redraft, Markakis in a keeper. I like Bay but Markakis is your choice in a keeper. There is little difference in them and its worth the upside.

Not sure what the other manager will do, but I countered for Markakis and his 3rd round pick. Remember, this is a 10 player keeper league, so the 3rd round would be a 13 round pick.

I do agree they are so close, but the manager that want to trade is Canadian, and has shown in the past to give a little more for a fellow Canadian player?
