Who to drop?

Postby The Kid99 » Sat Mar 14, 2009 8:58 am

I need some serious help with my dynasty team. Well I guess I could say who to drop or who to pick up as well. Got some issues with my team that I need some help with at the moment. I'll start by giving you the team.

C- Kelly Shoppach
1b- Lance Berkman
2b- Brian Roberts
SS- Miguel Tejeda
3b- Mike Lowell
OF- Magglio Ordonez
OF- Jayson Werth
OF- Nelson Cruz
Util- Jason Giambi
Util- Derek Lee
BN- Melvin Mora
BN- Michael Bourn
BN- Ty Wigginton
BN- Yunel Escobar

SP- Daisuke Matsuzaka
SP- Mark Buehrle
SP- Joe Saunders
RP- Bobby Jenks
RP- Brian Wilson
P- Trevor Hoffman
P- Frank Francisco
P- Justin Masterson
BN- Aaron Cook
BN- Chris Volstad
BN- Jeremy Bonderman

There are three more picks in draft and then the FA pool opens up to everybody.

Here are some guys left.

Hideki Matsui- But there is a big Yanks fan still to pick, so might be gone.
Travis Hafner
Gary Sheffield

For pitching.
Chad Qualls
John Smoltz
Chris Ray

Now I would like to get one hitter and one pitcher. But the problem is who do I drop? Ty Wigginton seems like my first choice, but number 2 I'm not so sure. While Michael Bourn was horrible last season, he's still very young and a great source of speed. My other option is Aaron Cook or Joe Saunders. Would anybody drop either of them to get Qualls, Smoltz, or Ray? Or should I just wait until Bonderman is placed on the DL and see what is left out there?

My last question, is what does everybody think of Kelly Shoppach this season? Should I be in wait and see mode or try and grab somebody like Ramon Hernandez?

Don't drop Wigginton, he's actually pretty decent, or at least a much better option than guys like Bonderman and Cook. I'm also not big on one of your young pitchers in Volstad, even in a dynasty.

Qualls needs to be pick up and Smoltz is interesting, although I'm not exactly sure what the Sox will be doing with him. Chris Ray doesn't have the job right now, but Sherrill was very shaky last year.

Bondo and Cook would be my first choices to drop.

I would stick with Shoppach. Looks like your team can support the BA hit and even vying for PT, I think Shoppach will outperform Pierzynski otherwise. If you have DL slots I would consider making Smoltz your first choice and then stashing him.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
