Max Scherzer

Any updates over the past week? About a week ago rotoworld commented that he threw a bullpen session and was scheduled to pitch live batting practice, havent heard anything since.

Our draft is in 1 week, and I very likely will have to choose between Scherzer, Slowey or Baker at some point mid-draft. I LOVE his upside, but I am little worried about the shoulder...

Any Diamonback fans out there?

Right-hander Max Scherzer, slowed by shoulder inflammation, threw his second batting-practice session and is expected to make his Cactus League debut against Oakland on Tuesday in Phoenix. Barring any setbacks, he likely will not start in the regular season until mid-April, when the Diamondbacks will first need a fifth starter.

He threw to live hitters for the 2nd time on Friday.

I'm on the Scherzer bandwagon big time. He's got the best k/9 potential on that team which is saying a lot. I expect him to be a top 30 SP this year.

Remember he'll have to do this in under 170 IP though - I'm not saying it can't happen, but I'd temper my expectations a bit and say more like top-50...that way, anything more is just icing ;-D

I got mad max as my 6th starter in a H2H league where we start 4 SP a week.
I love having him as potential fill in during the summer months, his upside is HUGE.
I think if you can get this guy as a bench spot on your team, a month or so from now you can then start to depend on him as he will have a solid spot in the rotation.

I was a little worried seeing him exit after 0,2 innings but.....
"Nick Piecoro, of The Arizona Republic, reports Arizona Diamondbacks SP Max Scherzer (shoulder) said he is completely healthy after his start Tuesday, March 17. Scherzer gave up five runs (one earned) and three hits while walking one in two-thirds of an inning. He threw 36 pitches and was clocked at 91 to 93 mph. (KFFL)" :-°
