Decision Time on Teixeira - WHIR

Postby BillyHallDisciple » Fri Mar 13, 2009 9:36 pm

6x6 league with the basic hitting cats (R, HR, RBI, SB, BA) plus OPS. Auction coming up in two weeks. $230 salary maximum (player's prices increase $5 per year). Deadline's tomorrow to decide if I keep Tex this year at $40, or not declare him as a keeper and free up 40 extra bucks to bid on other players.

The best available players for auction will be M-Cab and Wright who will go for $45-ish probably; after that it drops down to Holliday, Carlos Lee, Beltran, Vlad, Utley ($30-35 guys), then down to Dunn and dropping off quite a bit after that.

Tex is outstanding in 5 of 6 cats and of the available player pool, he was 1st in OPS in '08 at .957 (Holliday was at .947, Carlos Lee was at .937).

Here's my roster w/ 2009 prices (If no player is listed it means the roster spot's currently vacant):

C Russ Martin $11
1B Prince Fielder $25
2B Brandon Phillips $17
3B
SS JJ Hardy $11
CI Mark Teixeira? $40
MI
OF Jay Bruce $13
OF Jacoby Ellsbury $12

I would keep him if other elite talent would go for around $45.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, if I drop him then I'd have to hope to get Wright or M-Cab and pay a lot more. The only other option is dropping him and freeing up $40 for two $20 guys or three $16 guys, but it seems like they have as much of a chance of working out as a few well-chosen $1-5 sleepers.

I would keep him, you cant guarantee to get MCab or Wright plus Holliday is not guaranteed to put up Colorado numbers in pitching friendly Oakland, go after a few sleepers A.Lind 25 hrs .280 ba, Adam Jones 15 hrs 20-30 sbs, Alex Gordon .275 25 hrs 15 sbs
