Let's Talk Snake Draft Strategy...AL only style

Okay...

10 team AL only [b]non keeper[b] league. We draft new every year. 5x5 scoring. (900 innings minimum)

The general consensus in most strategies is to wait on pitching until later in the draft. The reason is because you can get pitchers later in the draft with good base skills and that pitching is largely unpredictable. This works fine in a Mixed league, but what if you are in an AL only league? I find that if you don't leave the 9th round with 3 solid starters. This is because if you wait, you left picking through the scraps in your later rounds for ERA and WHIP inflated spot holders who are 5th starters on bad teams. If you play AL only...you know what I'm talking about.

Anyone feel like sharing a particular draft strategy? I won my league 2 years ago because I drafted Sabathia, Haren, and Lackey before round 7 was over. Last year, everyone else copied this strategy and the inflation ruined the draft. I drafted all hitting because the value of the starting pitching was TERRIBLE. I paid for it in the end with a 6th place finish. Good hitting...no pitching. Tried making trades in the 2nd half but didn't work out.

Any stategies?

Sorry...we have 23 man rosters with 9 pitchers. 900 innings minimum.

I've never done an AL (or NL) only league but I doubt my strategy would change much. I always go for the best available player, errr... hitter. I wait on pitching until the 7th round.

In an AL only league, I might bump that up a couple of rounds and go: batter-batter-batter-batter-batter-pitcher-pitcher.

I'd make sure to have 3 quality starters by about round 8 or 9, because the talent pool really dries up quick in an AL league.
