Get some guys with a track record of good fantasy stats for a few years in a row, as opposed to Balfour's one good year which could just as easily go south in 09. Balfour came out of nowhere in 08, and had a lousy 07. So keep your eyes peeled for breakouts in the season.

Good advice, thanks. I might still take Kuo in the last 2 rounds if he is still there because of the SP eligibility and I think he is next in line if Broxton goes down.

If others in your league don't use this strategy then take an upside OF or SP in the late rounds and then scoop up the RP after you have had a chance to see if the upside guys will provide numbers.

Yeah well I didn't end up drafting a good MR but Kuo and Balfour were taken relatively early (like 18th-19th round). There are always some JP Howell, Okajima types to be had. Some others that went were Saito and JJ Putz, but closers are at a premium in that league and so I think those were taken as backups to closers.

Depends on the situation. Late in the draft, if i have a my squad set, I'll take shots at guys like Balfour, Ray, etc. It could pay iff later
