I'm in a keeper league. standard 5x5 except OPS instead of avg.
my keepers are Prince Fielder, Nick Markakis, and Evan Longoria
I have the #1 pick in the draft.
Best players available would be
Carlos Lee Matt Kemp Ichiro Roy Halladay Brian Roberts Brandon Phillips
obviously El Caballo is a machine. guarentees 30 HR and 110 RBI.. but will kemp be that far off, adn he could help to address the speed difficiency we are dealing with..
Since this is a keeper league there is some credence to taking Kemp over Lee, but Lee isn't that old (turns 33 in June), and I'd say he will at least have 10 more HR, 25 more RBI, and hit 20 points higher then Kemp this year. I can't blame you for taking Kemp if your gut tells you to go that route, but I'd take C Lee.
in all honesty the fact that it's a keeper league doesn't really factor in for me.. because as you glance at my keepers (Prince, Markakis, Longoria) they are all under 25. also, I am quite sure that Jay Bruce is gonna make it to my 2nd rd pick, which is where I'll be taking him. so next year we are keeping 4 players, but if all goes as i expect it will be Prince, Markakis, Longoria, adn Bruce. and neither Kemp nor El Caballo will factor in.. blah..blah..blah... sorry about that.. long story short I'm just concerned with getting the player that will bring me fantasy glory NOW!
Padres Fan wrote:Kemp definately then, as he will give speed and power points, both Kemp and Lee will have similar BA, plus Lee's BA flucuates wildly season to season.
