DID YOU KNOW THAT------
During the legendary first round draft pick, slot one is the Ultimate pick..... Isn't it?..... Unless you are an absolute baffoon, you know that this year you picked Hanley Ramirez. in addition, if you didn't know that Alex Rodriguez was the first pick the previous two years (even if you don't actually play fantasy baseball) then you live in a cave.
But..... you have to wait another 15-23+ picks to get your next pick. You might want the Number One player above anyone else, but compring the ultimate draft spot (snake) to a normal draft (NFL-style) you get HanRam............waiting............. More waiting....... and then technically a third and fourth round draft pick. What about the LAST draft pick?
Ideally, the fifth to eigth spot is the most fair. They will always be in the middle of the round, guranteeing a quality pick EVERY round. The first draft spot will have to get a terrible second-round pick in return for the #1 player. This player could be replaced by Mark Texeira, and Josh Hamilton, who might match or outperform him individually. Getting both players would need a later round draft pick.
See, in a 12 team draft, if you are in the eighth spot, you get these picks: 8, 16, 39, 52.... etc. (pardon the math, i did it in my head) in an NFL-style draft, these picks would be a late round then early round pick in rotation.
If you are in the sixth spot, you are guranteed the picks: 6, 13, 26, 39..... (12 picks in a round total, plus back to you = 13 people)
Ideally, in a 12 man league.... To (theoretically) have a better chance to get who you want..... The fabled spot is slot one. But the ultimate spot is now slot six.
NOWWWWWWWWWW YOUUUUUU KNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWwww
