soto and webb for pedroia and haren

Postby hobobot » Thu Mar 12, 2009 11:02 am

What do you think about this trade?

team 1 (my team) soto and webb
team 2 pedroia and haren

I need middle infielders badly. and could use some speed. My other pitchers include peavy, harden, vazquez. I also have Brian Macann and Chris Ianneta for catchers
Team 2 needs a catcher.

Good deal. Webb and Haren is a wash, and Pedroia is better value than Soto, especially since you are loaded with catcher options.

Thanks,

that's what i was thinking too. I proposed that trade and he accepted it. he is pretty stacked at middle infielders, he also has brandon Phillips, and i forgot who else.

i wouldn't say the pitching is a wash here persay.... i think Webb has a step or 2 up on Haren, and im not overly HUGE on pedrioa, so i would say he wins in this deal... but you win also cuz you cover a position you need, and give a position thats a hot commodity but you already have covered with another young gem... any chance hes got anything better then haren? if not then yes i would do this deal...

opinion?...

On value I think Webb is a notch ahead of Haren, but Pedroia, value wise is ahead of Soto, so its close. I think you win because the trade make sense to your team. You traded from you strength to fill a hole.

I'd be more careful about this trade than others.

I would put Soto and Webbs value above that of Pedroia and Haren.

Why not try and trade Soto or McCann and Vasquez for someone like Utley? Or just a C for a 2B?

since you already have mccann AND iannetta, you didn't need soto, good deal for you. I think you might could have gotten a throw in somewhere but depth ----> weakness is kinds of deals you want to make always.
