David Ortiz for who?

Postby FantasySportsMaven » Thu Mar 12, 2009 10:45 am

12 Team Yahoo, Standard 5x5 Roto Redraft League.
I'd like to trade Ortiz for an OF or SP of equal value but who should I target?

Here is my current roster:

C: V. Martinez, J. Posada
1B: A. Dunn, V. Martinez, G. Atkins
2B: C. Utley, K. Matsui
SS: J. Peralta
3B: G. Atkins, K. Kouzmanoff, T. Wigginton, M. Lowell
UT: D. Ortiz
OF: R. Braun, H. Pence, J. Pierre, T. Wigginton, A. Dunn

SP: J. Lester, M. Scherzer, T. Lilly, J. Weaver, J. Duchscherer, W. Rodriguez, P. Maholm
RP: J. Valverde, J. Hanrahan, M. Scherzer, JJ Putz

ok can just about garentee you won't stand a chance of getting heck any 3 of those OF, CC, Webb or Hamels... you might have a SHOT at Beckett or Haren, but odds are thats a bad option also...

this is what id say:
OF- Vlad, Granderson, Rios, Ellsbury, maybe Ichiro
SP- Lakcey, King Felix, Santana, Harden, like i say maybe Beckett, but i wouldn't think the owner of Haren would do that straight up...

I know hes ranked 32nd overall by yahoo (i never go by those ranks but many people do) but hes now 34 and has some injury woes, not to mention i don't know about your league but in mine hes a UTIL only player, doesn't even carry the 1B tag anymore which also drops his value...

help me out...

If you don't think you'd get my first set of players, I'd try Hart, McLouth (two very underrated players), after that maybe Ellsbury, Granderson, and Chad Billingsley or Ricky Nolasco in the pitching side. It depends on what the perceived value for Ortiz is in your league. Is he a power hitter or a broken down has been to them

So far, offered trades for:
Webb, Hamels, Kemp and as a lesser choice for Carlos Lee. Lee is a homer pick for me. :-D

How bout trading Ortiz for Papelbon? Would that be a good move for my team?

I think Ortiz is on the downside of his career, if you can get a guy like Papelbon, GO FOR IT, and dont look back. ;-D

You may not like to hear it but Ortiz probably equates to McLouth, Hart, Rios, or lower Ethier/Ludwick.
For SPs Beckett jumps out at me, Liriano?, Felix. Or Shields, Kazmir even.

I'd be packaging Ortiz with one of your leftover 3b/1b/c.

I'd offer Martinez, Peralta, and Ortiz
for a small upgrade at SS (Drew), stud consistant OF (maybe go after Beltran), and an upside SP I'd shoot for Parra (whos on his way up this year).

Post some ww players and other rosters that have interest in some of your guys. Your team has a lot of holes in it.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!
